Credit card payoff calculator

Add all your cards, set what you can pay each month, and see exactly when you'd be debt-free — plus what a 0% balance transfer could save you. Nothing to sign up for; your numbers never leave your browser.

This is information, not financial advice. The figures are estimates to help you compare your own options. We don't recommend specific cards or lenders, and a real card's interest is usually charged daily — your statement may differ by a little. Always check your own card's terms before acting.

Three ways to see your debt

This tool runs your cards month by month, three ways, so you can compare them side by side.

1 · Minimum payments only

The eye-opener. If you pay only the minimum each month, the minimum shrinks as your balance falls — so the debt drags on for years and the interest piles up. This is the number the card companies are quietly counting on.

2 · Your plan

You set a fixed total you can afford each month. We pay every card's minimum first, then throw everything left at one target card — the highest-rate one if you pick Cheapest, or the smallest balance if you pick Quickest wins. When that card clears, its payment rolls onto the next. This is the classic "avalanche vs snowball" choice: avalanche saves the most money, snowball gives you a card cleared sooner for momentum.

3 · With a 0% balance transfer

Moving a balance to a 0% card means every pound you pay goes at the debt, not the interest — but there's usually a one-off fee (often 2–4% of the balance), and the rate jumps when the 0% period ends. We add the fee, give you 0% for the months you set, then apply the revert rate to anything still owing. The tool shows whether the fee is worth it for your numbers.

A note on minimum payments

UK cards set the minimum as roughly the greater of £5 or 1% of the balance plus that month's interest and any fees. We use that as the default, but every issuer is a little different — if you know your card's exact rule, type your own minimum in and the maths will follow it.

Last checked: 2026-07-19 · Method: monthly-rest simulation, minimum = max(£5, monthly interest + 1% of balance). Real cards typically charge interest daily, so figures are close estimates. This tool gives information, not a recommendation — we never name or link to specific cards.
